I have been looking on the 1841 census for Scotland on Ancestry and came accross what I think is an ancestor of mine his occupation is described as H L W Plutle. Has any one any idea what this is? on his sons marriage certificate he was what looks like Stercco or Hercco Modeller and Journeyman (what ever that was). Does anyone now what these occupations are? Thanks Barbara

Stucco Modeller? If so, then the first one is probably Plasterer. OC

Barbara If you'd like to post his details, I'll have a look at the census and see if I can fathom it for you. No expert but I'll give it a go. Gwyn

All trades have three grades:- First you are an Apprentice Then when you have finished your apprenticeship you are classed as a Journeyman. If you go on to employ people you become a Master. Kath. x

OK ...no image then, so I'm taking a look at occupations of other workers for hopeful clues. Gwyn
