On the 1st Jan. 1974 Thomas Firkins married Susanna Hadley at Handworth Staffs. They went on to have children who were all christened in Birmingham Warks. My problem is, I can find no birth for Susanna in either Staffs, where Thomas was born, or in Birmingham. Is this another brick wall?

Do you really mean 1974? If you mean earlier, maybe Susannah wasn't baptised or maybe her birth wasn't registered. It's difficult to say without knowing the year. Have you got her on a censes and if so, what does it say for place of birth? And it's always possible that she wasn't born in the areas you have been looking! Sam x

Well for 1874 you should be able to get her on a census which will tell you place of birth. I can't find her on a censes - have you found them on any? Also, fines for non-registration weren't bought in until 1875 so it is possible her birth was never registered. Sam x

What rubbish! You can't give up! How old is she on the marriage cert? Does it say Hadley is her maiden name (she might have been married before). What is her father's name and occupation? nell

Hi what Year was Susanna born any idea and what are her parents names, they should be on her marriage cert if you have it. Gwen

I am going to go through my notes, flaming pc went down without me backing up! and am now trying to deciper my scribble. Once I have done that, and got together all the info I have, I will be back on the trail!!!

Lynda if you have the Marriage cert it will tell you their ages and fathers names and occupations. I am sure if you post more details we will be able to help. Gwen
