The Father was married twice and I have in error placed one child against the incorrect mother. How do I move the child to the correct placement on the tree. At present I find I am not allowed to delete the child (to then correctly place it) as that child went oto have children of their own and I cannot delete the Mother as she has children and her parents are also shown. This is what the print notices come up showing when I try all formats to delete/reinsert that I can think off. Help please. |

Hello, I don't know if you are using GR or another program. I use the LDS PAF program and it has an unlink option. You could unlink the child fron the mother and relink to the correct mother. The child's marriage etc should stay with the child. Don't kow if this helps Toni |

Roger, l don't think your problem can be fixed on GR without deleting from the bottom of the line working back towards the mother you wish to move and then re-adding everyone back to your tree. A downside of GR's tree program. May l suggest for your own peace of mind you export your tree and back it up. Don't rely solely on GR to record tree details. |

Even a basic programme like FTM helps make some of the relationships much easier and clearer to understand-well it does for me! Also like the belt and braces effect to have my tree backed up in several places. It was well worth investing a few pounds for it. Jennie |

Hi Roger have you clicked on where it says parents, it will bring this message up Change Parents If this relation is incorrectly joined to his/her parents, you can change to the correct parents here. Choose the correct parents from the drop down below. You must click the save button in this page for this change to take affect the parent button is next to where it says extra details and photos. I can only use it when i have somebody remarrying, in other words two wives/husbands either which could be the parent of the child Hope you understand that Kate |

I got so fed up of this fault on the Genes tree that I now have my tree on Tribal Pages and do not intend to add anyone new to my GR tree - the whole thing is a complete mess, due mostly to the sort of thing you are talking about. The mess hasnt been helped by GR's recent bit of insanity, which would not let me enter a group of siblings, but hung each one individually to the mother and father, meaning that the mother and father show 5 times, each time having only one child.
