Helen its all such a mess. You lot have tried to help before, but no luck. Its my Rancombe/Rancom/Rankham/Rankean lot, I think you was helping me earlier with WIlliam Samuel Rankham being registered twice. There is also a thread on here about calling two children the same name.

Thought you might say that, was hoping to use the record to definately confirm who the parents are. Oh well back to the drawing board.

I would think it very unlikely. My gt gt gt grandfather's records have his medical history and details about his pension. No info at all about his family. After all if you were old enough to fight you were considered independent of your parents. nell

Can someone tell me if the records would show parents names? They were in the army in 1855 and on the 1871 census they are shown as a chelsea pensioner.
