20 years is a big gap between kids. Perhaps mum and dad forgot the eldest when they had the youngest!!! I think you could possibly try phoning the relevant Brentford or whatever register office and say you have two births on consecutive quarters. They might be able to confirm if its the same details on both. Worth a try. nell |

yes thats the baptism. This family is becoming a nightmare, I have already sought advice on whether a couple would name two children the same name. Because on the 1841 census there is a William born circa 1829 and I there is also a baptism for him, parents Rosannah and John also and then there is this other William Samuel with the same parents 1849. The williams 1829 is my one, he married an Ellen Dascombe but I cant find a marriage certificate first child born May 1867 . I have also found another marriage for William Rancombe to a Mary Rebecca Cole nee Cawrey in Nov 1855. (Williams father is again given as John occupation labourer. Im all in a cuffuddle now |

I have two Thomas Holdens, both baptised same day, same church, both births registered on same page. Both fathers are Thomas Holden. Both mothers are Mary Holden. Only the address on the birth certs tells me that these two Thomas's are two different children - cousins! The fathers, Thomas Holden, were cousins and one Thomas married Mary Holden (his cousin and sister of the other Thomas). The other Mary is a random stranger from the next street. OC |

I assume this is the baptism you have: WILLIAM SAMUEL RUNCOMB Christening: 20 AUG 1848 Hounslow, London, England Father: JOHN RUNCOMB Mother: ROSANNA C042241 It's possible that there were two William samuel Runcomb/rankoms - maybe cousins, named after family members. nell |

Do either of the entries appear on the index page as an amendment - maybe at the bottom? If not, perhaps there was some confusion about whether or not he'd been registered. If it was me, and this was a direct relative, I'd get at least one of these certs. nell |
