Had this problem for 3 days now - strange that it occured the same day that one of my threads was deleted by GR. No problems on Ancestry, ScotlandsPeople, 1837 or any others. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks. Maureen |

Every time I change boards or try to read a thread get the script error message. I have emailed GR and will be interested to see if I get any response other than the usual one of which system etc am I using. Maureen |

I'm no computer expert, but would it be worth removing Shockwave and reinstalling it as that seems to be the problem? |

Sorry but no idea what Shockwave is - certainly not seen anything to suggest I have accidentally downloaded it. Maureen Oh just found a folder called shockwave - dated the month I bought the computer Sept 2000 - but no idea what it is or does. |

You want to go to Start/ Control Panel/Add & Remove Programmes. Then remove/uninstall Macromedia Flash Player, or Macromedia Shockwave Player. Wendy |

I think it's something that runs the 'media' type things on your PC, it may have been preinstalled when you first got it. It's an Adobe programme I think. Lots of 'thinks' here aren't there? At least it's keeping your thread near the top of the board. |

Flashplayer is used to display complex animations, such as the adverts on GR. The programme is probably corrupt or damaged. Once removed you can re download it from www*adobe*com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BIOW (replace * with full stops) Hope this sorts it out. Wendy |

As I have no idea where the program came from has anyone any ideas where I get it to reinstall it. Why is it only affecting this site. I can remove programs without any problems as had to do that with FTM at least 5 times as it caused problems on my computer. Thanks for the help so far. Maureen |

Girls I certainly do not need or want a man - more trouble than they are worth - had the teeshirt twice. Wendy and Sue thank you both very much for your help. Maureen |

Brenda, I had thought of doing that but if you knew how much work I have done on my Mums tree in the last couple of day, downloading images etc from ScotlandsPeople - then it would have to be a last resort. Maureen |

Doesn't always do us any good though Sue. They still do what they want and not what we tell themm!! Still he does come in useful when the old computer plays up. Better go and get his tea otherwise he won't help me any more. Wendy |
