Help please finding a marriage

I've tried all the usual ways of trying to find a marriage for my gr grandfather. I know from the birth certificate of my grandmother who my gr grandmother was, but the writing is not clear on the certificate. It looks like Elsmore as her maiden name but I can't find a marriage between George Sedgwick and Amy Elsmore anywhere, I can't even find a marriage for George Sedgwick marrying an Amy in the Birmingham area. I've sent for his Army records and on discharge he is still single in 1891 but on my grandmother's birth certificate for 1894 he was married to Amy. They are all on the 1901 census as a family living in Aston. Any ideas please. |

Maybe Amy wasn't her first name, or not how it was recorded on the marriage cert. Have you tried Amelia? |

Silly thought Pamela, but are you sure it's Birmingham area, what is Amy's place or birth according to the census, and have you searched that parish for the marriage. You say he came out of the army, it could be that he met and married Amy somewhere else and then moved to the Aston area - just a though!! Looby |

The nearest I can see on FreeBMD is this... Marriages Sep 1895 Morris Florence King's N. 6c 609 Petty Amelia Ann King's N. 6c 609 Sedgwick George Thomas King's N. 6c 609 West Arthur Kings N 6c 609 Georgina. |

Hello, Found this: Marriages Dec 1897 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HICKMAN Ann Elizabeth Rugby 6d 1161 SEDGWICK George Rugby 6d 1161 There's also one for a Harriett in 1899 but I can't think how they may be changed to Ann. Toni |
