I have the NBI 2 and also had almost nil luck on it for £45 an expensive mistake. I believe the NBI and many other records are on the familyhistoryonline website. You buy units and it's pretty reasonable. I also think familyrelatives have been putting parish registers on, also don't forget the IGI, always worth a look first. Dianex |

Thank you for the links. I'll check them out. I've got a strange family that trips around from Bristol to Yorkshire and Lancashire and back. For 200 years?? |

Hello, I've got the british isles vital records and while I haven't found much on it yet I am still hoping. What I did find was great. If you buy it though buy it from an LDS shop. In Aust they are $27. I've seen people selling them on ebay for a lot higher and it isn't worth it unless you are very luck to have all your family on it. Actually if you send me a PM with a list of names I'll have a look for you and save you the trouble of buying it for nothing. Toni |

Be warned that to my knowledge Parish Record CDs are not complete. The Yorkshire one I bought was dissapointing, many parishes missing. Bob |

Elizabeth I have the buriel index, it is not complete, some areas are well covered like Lincolnshire, that is where most of mine are buried but other counties are not so well covered Sue... pm me with your areas I will tell you what it is like for coverage. |

Elizabeth, I have the BVRI and I've only found 1% of my rellies on there. Because of the number of CDs it's a pain to keep loading and reloading. You can view coverage here: http://www.ldscatalog.*com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?partNumber=50126000&catalogIdentifier=LDS_SalesCatalog&action=Index Remove the * As you can see, some counties have better coverage than others. I'm thinking about buying some genealogy CDs. As I live in Australia, it's hard to access Parish Records. My family is all over UK up until 1850s, but I've been doing the side lines as well so some are still there. Is the National Burial Index or the British Isles Vital Index worth buying. Are they all transcribed or is it 'luck' if you find the name you'rs looking for? Thanks. |
