I have details of a death or my relly during 1st world War and not sure what part of the transcript means as shown below. does it mean he was not killed in action or he was wounded and died at home.? How died: Died Theatre of war: Home

I am almost certain it means he died in the UK, this was also a theatre of war, just as much as France, Germany or anywhere else. Jennifer

Gwen usually it would say KIA = killed in action of DOW= died of wounds. If it's the John Wyatt we were looking at earlier it could well be as he died so very early on in the war that he didn't actually take part and could have died of natural causes/accident. Equally he could have received wounds and been brought back to England to hospital but died in England which is why he's buriedin Tidworth. You could get his death certificate and if he died of natural causes/accident it would tell you but if it was through the war it will just say died. Have you tried looking for a medal card for him - was he awarded medals, that would tell you if he went overseas.
