I despair of the education of the youth of today <g>. I remember it from Middle Ages History lessons (but that was nearly 50 years ago - not long after the Middle Ages). J

im so glad i read this thread, my gt grandfather is a journeyman tailor and i thought it meant he travelled around with his work how wrong was i oops Stacy

A journeyman is a phrase from the French 'jour' meaning paid daily. He was qualifed, but not a master, who would be able to employ apprentices. nell

Someone who has served his apprenticeship as a Plasterer and now gets employed by the day in his trade. Dea x
