Hi Kim RTF stands for Rich Text Format. It is a format for documents which can be read by most word processing software. If you keep your tree off-line in a Family Tree programme, you can almost certainly create a report in RTF. Save the report in that format, then send it as an attachment by email to your contact. (You cannot do this via GR as you cannot send attachments, you will have to swop email addresses). If you only keep your tree on GR, then you need to download one of the free Family Tree programmes. Personally I use Legacy which I think is very good. If you Google for Legacy, you will find the site when you can download it. Then export your tree from GR as a gedcom, and then open the gedcom in Legacy. Now you can create a report from Legacy in RTF. The advantage of this system is you only need send your contact that bit of the tree which is applicable to him - not all the other parts which are no relation at all. If he is sending his information back to you in RTF format, you will have to read the document with your word processor, and then enter any new information manually into your tree. Tina
