Sorry, Louise. I read and replied to your pm but I didn't link it with this enquiry. As I said in my reply to your pm I can't help you - I haven't used that bit of Ancestry so I don't know how it works. Have you thought of the possibility that it was spam, not a genuine offer? I suggest you post the message here with some stars instead of the name, to see if anyone else can help. J

<< the tree belongs to a contact of mine in Oz she as invitied me to download this tree of ancestral, but when i try nothing happens >> Let's try to sort this problem in bite-size chunks. Is this new tree in a file on your computer? Or is it an attachment to an email that someone has sent you? Or is it on this person's website? If it's somewhere on the internet, if you tell us where to find it, we can perhaps work out what you need to do next. If you're worried about people pinching your rellies, send this info. in a personal email. I'm certainly not interested in harvesting names for the sake of it, and my wife says I have a very short attention span. What family tree software do you have on your computer? J

Louise Where is the tree now and where are you trying to copy it to? The normal method is to 'export' a tree in the GEDCOM format (filename xxxxxxx (dot) GED. You can then import this file into the genealogy program on your computer or into GR. The only restriction on importing a GEDCOM tree into GR is that it must have you, the tree owner, in it. J
