I don't mind if there's no maiden name for her, I have no idea of her maiden name either. The clincher for me may be that the name James doesn't appear anywhere else on my tree, ad every other generation has been named after their father. I'll look for any other tips though, thanks.

Anything that has a Mrs plonked in front is a submitted record. That is, someone else is looking at this family and have no idea of the maiden name. Take the details but dont enter them on your tree as there is so much duff info on submitted records on there. You find grand dads fathering children when they are 150 and 7 year olds being fathers! If you enter Irish in the search box at the top of this page it will bring up some tip threads to help.

It looks very much as though this is a record submitted by a member of the LDS rather than a record extracted from a parish register. If you scroll down it tells you at the bottom of the record. Any record that says 'Mrs Anything' is definitely suspect. It COULD be right, but treat it with extreme caution. These records are too, very patchy. I know absolutely nothing about finding Irish ancestors so can't be suggest alternative ways of finding your relative - no doubt someone wiser will be able to help. Victoria

I've been researching my family as far back as can be traced to Ireland on familysearch.org, and have recently found a record of a Mrs Catherine Casey that basically comprises: Mrs Catherine Casey Female Event(s): Birth: About 1778 Dundalk, Louth, Ireland Christening: Death: Burial: Marriages: Spouse: James Casey Family Marriage: About 1799 Dundalk, Louth, Ireland Whilst this would be encouraging as both the name and ages match up, the record itself states that it's a Birth Record. For one I don't kow why this would be registered as Mrs Catherine Casey if it's a birth registration, or why she would have a spouse listed. Other issues for me are that I have no idea where Louth is, and I always thought she came from Galway. So my question is, exactly how patchy are these records? Could this be the right woman, but her record labelled wrongly as a birth registration? Or is it more likely that there's a Catherine Casey of the same age in Galway who just isn't on the site?
