Hmm. and with a first name like Letitia - I see there are several Letitia Cornwells from Essex on the familysearch site, but none that tie in with your girl. Intriguing, but for what it's worth, people nearly always moved about to find work. Of course, without finding her dad on the census and as he won't be on her marriage cert, that's no clue! nell

Yes - age/birth from census, surname from cert+ Cornwell extensively used as second name of descendents. Def not CORNWALL (except you never know when the spelling may have changed!!!!!) Peter

I take it her age and birthplace are from censuses and her surname is from a birth cert for a child born after 1837?

Thanks for looking. This is turning into a major brick wall!! I'm beginning to wonder whether her family actually come from somewhere else and she was born in Clacton only by some strange offchance. Back to the drawing board!! All Tenby censuses have her as born Essex so that seems fairly certain, and she would only have been about 17 when she married..... Peter

Letitia CORNWELL b 1818 in Clacton Essex married Thomas WILLIAMS of Tenby Pembrokeshire. First child was b 1835 and I can't find a marriage. I believe her parents were Joseph and Ann (unknown name). Is there any chance of finding her parents in 1841/51 to see if she has siblings? I still haven't worked out what she was doing so far from home Thanks Peter
