Hi, you had, and still have six weeks in which to register a death. (but some people didn;t stick to it, or didn't get round to it so maybe they were just late) As for wo registered the birth, it could be anyone with a connection, thats why you sometimes have aunts, uncles, grandparents registering them. Also, sometimes you get completely random people who must have been know in some way. In this case I can only sugest that the hospital had a way of registering the births and a lot of them were done at the same time?!?

In those days Hospitals had a Lady Almoner whose job it was to arrange home visits, transport , etc etc . It may have been the policy of the hospital at that time for the registrar to call & the Almoner dealt with him for all the births that had occurred since the last visit. so he could register them and pass the certs on. More than likely then cos it was increasingly more common to have your baby in hospital.

think ill have to nip down the register office tom....... and splash out £21 on the 3 death certs to see how come they all died within a year of thier birth. It seems very strange as my Uncle and my cousins (my other Uncle has passed away and he never mentioned these kids to his kids only my dad and a sister Kathleen who died at 2 1/2 yrs and a sister that dissapeared at birth namely Sheila whom im searching for) didnt know any of these kids exsisted!!!!!!!!!! so as ya can see weird or wot, total nightmare and stress case lol. Angie xxxxxxxx

wonder if the war had anything to do with it. the delay in registering and the deaths I mean.
