Can anyone help with suggestions as to what names I should be looking under, or how this could have been mistranscribed? Details below in a mo. Many thanks Barbara

I'm trying to find Annie M Rowley on any census before she got married in December 1881, at Newcastle upon Tyne Registry office. Annie claimed she was 21 (which would make birth abt 1860) on her marriage certificate, but all other information suggests she was born abt 1862. Fathers name on certificate was William Rowley, Coal Miner. The witnesses were not family members (probably because both parties were lying about their age) Place of birth on 1891 and 1901 censuses is given as Wolverhampton. All suggestions gratefully received. Thanks in advance Barbara

Thank you for that Linda. At least it explains why she was getting married so far away from her birthplace. Barbara

I can't see her in 1871 unfortunately. There are a lot of near misses, but no exact matches. There is no birth on the IGI either, so I am stumped. Linda

Thanks for trying anyway Linda This may sound strange, but I'm glad its not just me missing the obvious for once. It would have helped if there was only one near miss. Barbara
