Please dont shoot me down, but I was wondering if you bought a years subscription to ancestory, say you shared the cost can 2 people be logged in with same details at the same time ? cheers, Clare

you can't be logged on at the same time, but if you both use the same usename & password you can share it, but not at the same time hope that makes sense Jx

I think you will find that it is against Ancestry conditions and regulations for more than one person to share a subscription !!!! Having said that you will find that you can log on to Ancestry via any computer using the one subscription - but unfortunately only one computer can be logged on at any one time. So in answer to your question it is possible (although not legal !!!!) for two people to share a subscription as long as you don´t want access at the same time.

I hope I didn't sound like a cheapskate asking the question :) I can go to my local library and look up for free, but it's more comfortable to do lookups from your own home :) Clare

Clare, I too thought about not having (renewing in my case) Ancestry subs. and going to local library, BUT you cannot save items for later reference OR inclusion in your own files - so for this reason alone have decided to renew - We've all been moaning about changes Ancestry, i.e. there is no longer a place you can save all relevant info. for 1 persons names, it will now have to be separate files, so suggest if you DO sign up get your own filing system on your PC and save direct interesting info. direct to your PC unless of course you want to put your tree onto Ancestry, for all to see, which as many peops. on this site advise against due to people stealing whole sections of your tree on the flimiest of reasons, such as same surname! Just thought I'd add this.... Gill
