changing name spelling....

My ancesters from cornwall (St Mawgan) keep changing the spelling of their surname and I'm fnding it hard to find, Beatrice mabel also known as May, Cocks or Cox born around August 1891.also can any tell me who lived at Ferndale cottage St mawgan in the 1901 census.........many thanks .....

Yesterday I went to a display at st Mawgan about the village History ........... If I am right it was Anthony Cocks but mother was mary Cox.. thats why I get confused

In 1901 there are 67 addresses listed in Cornwall beginning with ''Fern*''.....but none seem to be Ferndale and none at St Mawgan. There is this one though: Fernleigh, N Cornwall, Mawgan In Pyder Is that the same place? If not, you may have to trawl all the pages for St Mawgan in case it's badly mistranscribed, or the house name may not have been included. Merry

Thank you Brenda.... It,s as clear as mud now!............ the May Cox listed in that census is my grandmother, but her name was beatrice Mable but in the Village she was always known as may parkyn..On he marriage cert she ia listed as Beatrice Mable Cocks..... thank you, it gives me more to go on and now I know I'm looking for May Cox I might find her birth cert as I'v been looking for B M Cocks........

My gt grandmother Emma Broad was born in St Mawgan in 1867! Her family are mistranscribed as Rurard, Wadd, Brand etc and two of her brothers vanished into thin air!
