Registration started July 1837 (September quarter). Before that, yes it's parish records. If you can't get to the relevant County Records Office, then you can order filmed copies of parish records from your nearest LDS Family History Centre (addresses on www.familysearch.org). It only costs a few pounds and they keep the film for about a month for you to view it. Kath. x

Stephen BMD registration's didn't start till september 1837 so before then you have to rely on Parish Records. Georgina.

Can anyone please tell me if Marriage Certificates are available Pre-1837 or is the only information prior to that date liable to come from parish registers etc? Cheers Steve
