Right, thanks Helen, I'll click Bishop wearmouth and try that. Still don't understand why the explanation for district 23 says it covers Hill street East.........I easily get confused...lol Thanks again.. Jean

Curious. When I put Tunstall in the parish to search (NOT birthplace) it came up with pages and pages of Bishop Wearmouth. When I looked at a page at random it said Tunstall at the top of the page in the town column. Do you know which reg district or parish Hill St was in? Have you got it on a later census?

Helen I was wanting to search for Hill St East, Tunstall. The first page says it covers loads of streets including Hill street east but when I went into Tunstall, there's only one page, with some writing down the left side. jean

District 23 is only 'part of' Tunstall.

The page is torn and then it says 'entered families between 1 and 32 marked thus X are not [another torn off bit] strict schedule order, but after 32 srict numerical order is observed' As I said above, lots of bits of Tunstall seem to be under Bishop Wearmouth. nell
