I recently won some old postcards (picture and photographic) on Ebay so that I could share them with fellow GR members as a thank you for all the help and support I’ve received (both with my research and personally). Please browse through them, and if you recognise any of the people or places, send me a PM for more information, and I will let you have the postcard/s. I am giving these cards away as a friendly gesture, NOT selling them. All I ask is for a stamped, addressed envelope in which to send your card/s to you. Some of them have writing on the reverse, or the name of a photographic studio on them. I will detail this beneath the photograph. If there is nothing at all with which to identify the picture, I will put my guess as to the content in brackets. The site is http://groups.msn(.)com/MandysOldPostcards Mandy :)

I had a look Mandy and think it is a lovely idea. I am sure a lot of us have old postcards that might interest other members.

What a great idea Mandy! I've just had a look, they are lovely pictures. I do hope you are able to return some of them to their families, its a very kind thought. Sue

The second one ''looks greek'' has the same info in Greek as in French. I can't really read Greek , but I can recognise the letter sounds and deduce a few words. Souvenir d'Éphèse - la Route de la Bibliothèque Souvenir of Ephesus - the Library Road/Route/Way Ephesus is one of the places to the church at which St Paul wrote letters. I think it has a modern name (?in Turkey). Christine

I think you'll find that the ''little French boy'' is 'S.A.R. Il Principe di Piemonte'. I suspect S.A.R. stands for something like Son Altesse Royal - i.e. the equivalent of ''H.R.H.'' - His Royal Highness - but it looks more like Italian than French, so ''Sou Altesso Regale'' or something. An the rest is (in Italian) - ''the prince of Piedmont.'' Perhaps it was bought in N Italy but not posted until the bearer was back in France. Christine

I think it's a lovely idea. I may not be planning to ask you for any, but I have certainly enjoyed looking through them all. Many thanks for taking the time to set it up. Christine

Thank you all for taking a look, I'm glad you enjoyed them! Christine - many thanks for all that very useful information; I'm going to start making some notes in case I end up keeping many of these! Heather - hi! The lamp was very good during the winter months; I found that although I didn't feel any different, I got off to sleep much more quickly, so that was great. I haven't used it during the summer months though. Mandy :)
