I found it easier (for me) to put my mum on twice 1 as her birth name then 2 as her adoptive name So all the family on one tree, just looks like my dad was married to two women at the same time!! Jo |

Hi When I last tried to do that I landed up as my Adoptive father's second wife, and when I wrote to Genes they said it could not be done. I had hoped that with I T V taking over they would update there software, when all is said and done most of us are looking for our B M', Sheila |

I got round this by starting my GR tree with my husband. I then gave him 2 wives - my birth self and my adoptive self. I could then add each set of parents and so on. It worked really well. Liz |

Hiya, My hubby was adopted, what I did was join him to genes to start the new lines. I don't pay for his--if I get any hot matches etc. I go into my 'paid up' account and put details in search fo indivuduals bit, then contact them, with brief explanation, through my active account!! Sounds complicated but it's not and it works. You could also set up an active account and pay the extra tenner if you don't want the hassle. As both accounts use same e-mail, just different passwords, I get all the notifications thru the one e-mail address. Carol |

Hi Diane GR uses simple tree software,so the short answer is you can't add the two sets of parents on one tree. You would need to register with GR a second time and build a second tree, you don't need to be a full member to do that, you just need to register, but you may need a second e-mail address. If you use a program like Family Tree Maker you could do it,but not on GR i'm afraid. Glen |

How do I go about adding adoptive parents to a tree as well as birth parents? New to all this. |
