Have you found them married in any census returns, possibly with any children? Where were they born? Glen

Carole, to get the wifes maiden name you need to buy one of the kids birth certificates. I take it you have found this couple on a census - when were the kids born. Registration started after 1837 so any kids should be on record. Look up the ref on ancestry or try freebmd first.

Carole, Did i do a lyons lookup last week for you.The Ireland and Manchester connection sounds similiar. If memory serves i think we started with William from Hulme? Just had a thought about this one,If Ann was born c1837 she would be around 51 years old when Sarah was born. Glen

Carole, you need the kiddies birth cert - that will give mums maiden name and THEN you can use that to find the marriage certificate. When you say you are looking on ancestry - you mean you are looking through the images of the bmd index - not just the name search? There is a big gap between Michael and Martin - do you know if this was a second marriage job?

Hi again Carole I had a quick look on freebmd, there are at least four Manchester marriages for Edward Lyons, and some are missing a bride. There is also one in Warrington,i seem to remember some of the kids came from there? As Heather says, your best bet is to get one of the childrens birth certs,it will tell you the mothers maiden name, then you can look for a marriage entry. If i remember correctly Edward was a widow by '91. For the sake of an overdose for your headache i can't think what else to do. Glen
