Hi everyone, i will be going to Ashbourne Derbyshire on Monday and i was just wandering if anybody knew where the closest records office is and what records it holds, especially if it holds records for Ashbourne. Any information would be very helpful as i have never been there before. Also in Ashbourne is there a main cemetry? or were most of the people in the village buried in Church Graveyards? Thanks very much Stephanie. |

Thre are offices in Derby and i think in Matlock. Re the cemetaries, although i haven't looked for any there, you should find that there is one main cemetary that started to be used after the church graveyards started to become too crowded. If you google for 'derby council' you should get the details for the records office from the site, and you could ask them which office is the nearest. Glen |
