Her fathers name was John Simpson and according to census and possible marriage cert she was born about 1820 and came from either Prescot or Oldham. I can't find her anywhere! mark |

As far as I can tell she married in 1850, so should still be around in 1841. Mark |

John Brown - I have a marriage cert which seems right except for a bit of a concern about the grooms occupation - see the Whitesmith thread for more info, but it was 1850 which fits the birth of the first child in 1851. Mark |

Georgina, That looks like the right one. Why can I never find anything useful on the IGI? That means she lost a year on the marriage cert, but I bet thats not unique? Mark |

Have you got the child's birth cert? (Assuming it was registered) That would confirm the mother's maiden name. Reg |

Mark that was her christening date on the IGI she could have been a year old when she was christened. There are quite a few Elizabeth Simpsons who could be her in 1841 but none with a father John. Georgina. |

Sorry, had to take No 1 daughter to party! Reggie, yes, daughter's birth cert shows Elizabeth Brown (formerly Simpson). Georgina, The problem is that if I don't have the right marriage then I can't be sure that her father's name WAS John. He was a 'clogger' from the marriage cert. Mark |
