divorce records The divorce records are a set of registers of decrees nisi and absolute, with their indexes. These are kept by the Principal Registry of the Family Division (PRFD), and are not accessible by the public. Instead, officials will carry out a paid search of the index, and certified copies of the decrees can be bought. You can contact them at: Principal Registry of the Family Division First Avenue House 42-49 High Holborn London WC2V 6NP Tel: 020 7947 6971 or (international) +44 7947 6971 http://www*courtservice*gov*uk |

I am working with my cousin who resides in Oz and she would like me to find the divorce papers of her late Mother. We do not believe my Aunt married the man she lived with but she had four children with him and we know he divorced his first wife in or around the mid 1930's. My cousin did have sight of the papers but she thinks her Mother destroyed them before she died. Any help as to where we might find copies of the divorce would be appreciated although we have no knowledge of his wife's names or as and when they were married. We do believe there was at least one child by the first marriage and they were Catholics. I have searched for the marriage but failed in my search. He was Albert Thompson born November 1900 in Salford.Died 1949. Thanks for your help it would be appreciated by us both. Cynthia and Audrey |
