There are two books, one a bible and one a book of common prayer. There are various inscriptions and also a family tree of the Lawrence family, from Betteshanger in Kent. Many names have been written in the bible from 1820 It would appear that the books were given to a young girl from Lady James to Anne Lawrence Christmas 1862. The Bible has family names written in the back dating from 1820 and is inscribed in the front with Rev G Rainier 1838. Northbourne. Neither book is in good condition, the covers are only attached either at the front or the back. The Lawrence family is not a relative family of mine and the books were found in Essex. I would be happy to let you know the names of the family involved if you think this might be your family. I bought these books so that the history contained within them would not be lost. I will happily sell them for the price I paid plus postage but they are heavy books. As a family historian myself I would love to see these go back to the family. I have advertised them on rootsweb to no avail The names written in the back of the Bible are as follows:- Is this your family? Elizabeth Lawrence the daughter of Henry Wm Lawrence born December the 21st 1820 John Lawrence the son of Henry Wm? (the same as above that looks like John!!) born August 27th 1822 Stephen Lawrence the son of Henry Wm Lawrence born June 10th 1824 Henery Lawrence the son of Henry Wm Lawrence born Febuary 24th 1826 Ann Lawrence the daughter of Henery Wm Lawrence January 11th 1828 William Lawrence the son of Henry Wm Lawrence born Febuary 23rd 1830 Edward Lawrence the son of Henry Wm Lawrence born March 9th 1832 Sarah Lawrence the daughter of Henry Wm Lawrence born January 21st 1834 George Lawrence the son of Henry Wm Lawrence born November 18 1856 Mary Jane Lawrence the daughter of Henry Wm Lawrence born December1 1837 Esther Lawrence the daughter of Henry Wm Lawrence born August 14th 1841 Diner? Lawrence the daughter of Henry Wm Lawrence born Febuary 24th 184(3)

Mayoress, i would be interested in the books as my family name is Lawrance, there is a strong probability that there has been an error in the spelling at some point. i know that my grandfather was born Romford, and spent most of his life in the dengie area. where in essex were the books found do you know?
