Hello, I have received an email from familyrelatives.org as I must have registered with them ages ago. I don't remember using them at all. The email says : 'Well to begin with we have more than 250 million transcribed records available online and also the largest number of fully searchable records for Births, Deaths and Marriages as well as the most sophisticated search facility than any of our competitors. Obviously we offer the entire 1837-2004 on a Surname Range search, together with the images for all Births, Deaths and Marriages.' In the middle of these 2 paragraphs are pictures of birth, death and marriage certificates. Can anyone tell me if this site can give the details of the certificates or if they only have indexes? While I feel it is probably only indexes and therefore the above is misleading, I can't help but hope. They also say that you can search by any criteria including mothers maiden name. Thanks in advance for any help given. Toni

You're right it is just the index entries. The search using mother's maiden name only works for years 1911 (when GRO started putting this in index) to 1920 (the end of the 1860-1920 period that Familyrelatives have transcribed, and the post 1984 years which GRO computerised.

Don't have time to type much. They don't have certs only indexes. The site is brill for BMD's 1866-1920 BUT only pay of you can't get the info on other free sites. There are some good shortcuts for 1911-1920. Overseas BMD's are FREE!! Merry

Thanks for the help. I am disappointed that you can't get the details as they are implying in the email but glad that I haven't bought credits for nothing. Toni

Well it is a brilliant site for the 1866-1920 in fact if you have an unusual surname you can bring up the whole lot with that name in the country in one go and you get the refs for the lot.

I had that same email myself a few days ago, I did read the the email thoroughly to see what they could offer me in addition to the £70 a year membership I am paying for ancestry. On a more positive note though, I did hear on the grapevine a few months back (so knowledge of details a little sketchy, sorry) that there are at least talks to digitise certificates for buying and viewing online.
