Helen, He was alive in the 1901 census But I have looked from then until 1910 but no joy, hance my question, John Fuller was born 1841(?) and died in Cane (Cain) Hill Asylum, I believe it was close to Croydon He was dead by1918 as he was deceased on his daughters wedding Cert:. Thanks Sheila

Sheila 'can't find him anywhere' - where have you looked? You need to check the complete bmd indexes, free on ancestry. Any idea when he died? nell

Thanks for that I can not find him anywhere I'll try what you offer,being in Oz has it's drawback's and this is one, not being able to go to the places. and with a name of Fuller need I say any more Sheila

All deaths after 1st July 1837 would have to be registered in the usual way. I believe any deaths in prison or an asylum would be the subject of a post-mortem. I had a relative who died in Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum in 1908 and he had a post-mortem and inquest. I was told this was routine.

Sheila I would think all BMD's have to be recorded even if they died in an asylum or hospital. Georgina.

HI , Sheila, My grandmother's Aunt -by- marriage died in the local asylum in the 1920s ..I found her death entry in the local records office a few months ago... Joyce ...UK...

Hello from down under, If a person died in an Asylum or Prison (from natural causes) did the authorities of that institution have to advise the relavent Government office of the event and would it therefore be recorded in the B.M.D. listing? Regards Sheila
