Thanks Rebekah, I'm struggling with the IGI at the mo - keeps bombing me out. Wouldn't have thought there were so many ways of spelling Lee - must be the accent! Have a possible for Will snr in 1851, but it's a Lees, and I don't really want to go there, as Thomas's daughter married a Lees, just to add to the confusion. Thanks everyone Helen

Hi Julie & Jim, Thanks for the replies The birth dates are only approximate, as they're all pre 1837, but they are in the right order, and another source had previously mentioned the older son James, although he isn't with the family on any other census. Jim, I forgot to check the '51! That is the right family on that one, although I've never found Will snr. Helen

The address Toll End is the same in 1841 and 1851 but i could not match any neighbours.

Hi Helen If all the birth dates and everything else matches up i would say yes. I looked at the image and it does look like Luy but it could be the persons writing. Julie

I've struggled to find an ancestor Thomas Lee on the 1841 census. I known he was born c1836, in Tipton, and his parents were William & Elizabeth, both b c 1810. He also had a brother William. I've now found a family in Tipton - Willa, Elizh, James, Thomas & Willa LUY. Could this be the family? Also in the house, but listed seperate is Richard Mansell. I have found a marriage for a William Lay & Elizabeth Mansell, which could be the right couple. Any opinions please. Thanks Helen
