I am sorry to start yet another thread about irish research, but I have read the ones on here (after posting for help earlier) and am suffering from brain ache!. I am trying to help a friend with her tree (has no clue about genealogy), and I stupidly offered to help - wishing I hadnt already! lol. Basically, her family, as recently as her parents, are all from the Newry area, and I just dont know where to start!!! |

The ancestryireland site is a pay to view site for County Down. Its not complete and to view a one name database for either birth or marriage is £6 (but you can download 5 certificates ~ useful if Fathers and sons have same name) certificates from Northern Ireland are £11. Indexes for Irish BMD are found in LDS Centres (see seperate thread) Teresa |
