LMA has parish records, a well-stocked book library on all areas of Greater London, The Times on microfiche for the 1800s, electoral rolls and much much more. It is about 2 minutes walk from the Family Records Centre which houses the GRO book indexes to bmds and the censuses for England and Wales 1841-1901. Also nearby, though you need to make an appointment, is the Islington Local History Centre which has parish registers for St Mary's Islington, and other local Islington info. A 10-minute walk or short bus ride away is Camden Archives. nell

Hi Willow No id, no booking, they don't even seem to check your bags on the way in: very laid back. They are the records office for greater London, rather than all Middlesex. If in doubt, check their website (where it's organised by London Boroughs) or Genuki to see where the records are held.

Hi Paul I was going to go by train to Kings Cross on a weekday, so thats ok. Do they hold all the births marriages and death records for Middlesex? Ok thanks

No, you just walk in and sign the visitor's book. They only tend to be open on certain Saturdays so you should check opening hours before you set off. Don't forget it's in the Congestion Charge zone. I do my trips by car on a Saturday afternoon when there's no congestion charge and parking is free after 1.30. Otherwise, it's a short walk from Kings Cross station. Check their website for holdings.

Hi I was hoping to go to the LMA at some point. Do I have to take any ID when I go there, like Kew? Also does the LMA hold all of the parish records for Middlesex? Thanks
