Illigitamate child...how do i find????

Thank you all for your replies. Would i have to try local archive offices for the area she was born or does any office have accessibilty for all areas? Janet |

As the birth is before 1837 and therefore no birth cert you will need to look for a baptism. The father may not be named in that, in which you will never know unless the mother took out a bastardy order, a sort of maintainence. Try the County Record Office for the county concerned. Margaret |

One of my ancestors was illigitamate, I have her mothers name. she also has 2 siblings also illigitamate. I know its probably impossible but how do i START to try to find info on father, she was born in 1835.....someone told me to try the National archives site but i cant understand that site at all...any suggestions please??? Janet. |
