I know that Abt. = about but am looking at pedigree chart on Ancestry One world Tree and it shows some birth dates as abt, but other dates as WFT Est. and then a date range e.g. 1793 - 1887 I thought World Family tree Established but there are 5 peops. adding to this tree and only 1 that shows that - but it is unnamed contact - is there any way to contac this person??? comments appreciated - thanks Gill :))

I would think more likely World Family Tree estimate. Def not established! That is one BIG range of dates. Some WFT have the persons website addy if you trawl through them. Dont be too hopeful. The one I found on there gave the brother of my ancestor as his father (when he was 7) and the wife of my ancestor as his second wife, hence all the kids had the wrong mother.

Some WFT entries are made with the proviso that they are estimated dates. When more than one entry is made for an individual it then centres around how many times a common date/year comes up. If a year gets repeated by two or more entries then it generally becomes the preferred year credited to that individuals name. The biggest problem with WFT that i have found is that a lot of entries are by American researchers who base the birth year on the census returns, and free bmd results. I only ever treat any results i find as a guide unless i can verify the details. As for contact,i never had any success in that regard, like GR a lot of the info is from people who no longer have an interest,or have changed e-mail addy. thanks to you both - thought it would be something simple like that - I've emailed all 4 of the ones that show an email addy - fingers crossed - am in contact with the OPC in the relevant area who confirms baptism and the dates do differ so I will treat this info. as a basis and not confirmed - thanks again.
