I'm not registered on this site, but it looks (from other comments on here) to be useful. I had a quick look at the website and it mentions parish records, but couldn't find anything specific. Is it intended that the site will have some parish record data in the future? Or does it have some already and I'm looking in the wrong place? Having a BAD day, so apologies if these are daft questions! Sheila x |

Hi Sheila from West Wiltshire Join, Join, Join. You won't regret it. There are some parish records to be found on line. Whether they are the ones you want or not I don't know. But there so many people on this site that have that either access to some or that can tell you where you can find them for yourself..... your plea will not be ignored, I promise you. This really is a most helpful site to belong to. Regards...Teresa (also from West Wiltshire) |

Are you asking whether you should join THIS site or the Family Relatives site? I'm confused......doesn't take a lot mind. |

Familyrelatives is really useful for the 1866-1920 period as it is name/area/date searchable. (Only ever enter one first name or you get zilch results). However, ALWAYS check freebmd first to see if it has been transcribed on there. If you have ancestry you can then try looking at the bmd index on there (NOT the freebmd section of ancestry). But sometimes when my eyes feel like they are hanging out on threads to my cheek having looked through the index and then the images, I use familyrelatives but only for 1866-1920. There are parish records on there, not that many, it is a bit confusing but you need to register and then have a look. If you want to join something, join ancestry*co*uk because you get all the census from 1901-1841 plus all the bmd index plus some parish records, Pallots Marriages and lots of other stuff. |

I have belonged to FR for a long time. It is good, esp for Birth and marriage records at certain time frames. Also the Overseas BMD's are FREE on it at the moment! It does have SOME PR's on there, but very sparce coverage at the moment. I would say parts of the site are not very user friendly too. I tend to have the mimimum sub on FR and also on 1837online. I use Ancestry a lot, but find I can get through a few credits on the other sites when something isn't available on Ancestry or would be quicker to find on FR. Merry |
