William Coles/Caroline Coles formally Coles child born 1921 Bedminster Bristol I have searched and searched and come to the conclusion they never married lol I have checked the cert with Bristol reg office so i know the names are correct. if this is the case how do i go any further back? not knowing how old they are to find their births/deaths ect help please Nicky.x |

I remember this from before.........I wonder how feasible it would be to search for a baptism for the child? (How many churches in Bedminster??). You might learn something if the child was illegitimate and there was a mistake in the info taken by the registrar. Also, would it be worth checking the electoral roll for their address? If you could establish what years William Cole was living there, then might there be a possibility of searching for other children registered at Bedminster? (a kindly local registrar might help to make it not too expensive!!) Maybe the mum's maiden name wasn't Coles and a different cert might have the details correct? Merry |

Coles isn't an unusual name, but is is a bit odd that both parents have it. were they cousins? |

Hi Merry i'm sorry to ask for help again but this one is really bugging me as i just can't seem to get anywhere with it where would i find electrol roll for these years? also Bedminster is only about five mins from me.... could i just go into a church and ask,do they keep the records there? thanks Nicky.x |

Hi Helen no idea if they were cousins sorry, only info i can get from my dad is that William still had a greengrocers shop in Bedminster around 1956 but he has no memory of Caroline Nicky.x |

The records will be held at the local records office,probably Bristol in this case. If you google 'bristol council' the info for the records office is on the leisure and culture section of the website.Whether anything from that late is held i don't know,but it should be. You can usually find an e-mail addy from the websites and ask the question re what records are held before you travelled. Glen |
