Hi - further to the above, this could be the father's death entry (given that the eldest son is named William, and many families named firstborn after father...) William Rycroft 1838 Quarter : Oct-Nov-Dec Newington London, Surrey Volume: 4 Page: 300 Also - I found on the 1851 Census a GEORGE RYCROFT b1812 Southwark, living in Lambeth. This may have been his brother, given the age and name (Susan's third son was named George...). All little clues that you can investigate to see if they actually piece together. Regards

Hi - most probably, if she was widowed on the 1841 census then she may have remarried after 1841 which is why you can't find her on later census records. I have just searched on marriages for Susan Rycroft and this marriage came up: Susan Phillis Rycroft 1844 Jul-Aug-Sep Lambeth Surrey Volume: 4 Page: 289 That could possibly be her? I doubt it is the daughter's marriage as she would only have been 12 yrs old at the time (even though it was possible, it wasn't very common). Here is a list of all the men showing on that corresponding page: Henry Colvin Spencer Percival George Renshaw William Freeman Temple. I would suggest searching the 1851 census for a Susan with any of those surnames with matching hubby and see if anything comes up.
