Until the old hands come to the rescue, as a relative newbie, I suggest you go to www.old-maps*co.uk, and do a search for Woolton (forget the Much). You'll get a choice of two - you want the Lancashire and Furness one. This should take you to a large scale 1849 map of Much Woolton. Zoom in and you will see St Peter's Church, also a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel. From here you can navigate around the surrounding area and perhaps find other churches and chapels in neighbouring villages. replace the * with . |

Hi to all you long timers. I need help on where to look for records, prior to what I know exists. I have been told that the parish records only exist from 1756. where do I go now to try and find family. Does anyone know of any churches other than St Mary's catholic church in the woolton area, that may possible hold records for around that time. Kind regards, Elaine. (australia) |
