Many thanks all of you. Yes, the two words that are clear are Factory and Foreman - must admit it does look like fire extinguisher. His grt grandaughter will be interested to see this! Thanks again for all your help and time. Julie - I have a long list of certs to work my way through still but that death cert will definitely be one to add to the pile - ta! |

He worked in a factory!!! I thought my writing was bad. Looks as if someone went over it to make it clearer (!). Maybe the original has different shades of ink which might make it easier to read. J |

Thanks, Julie Haven't got around to ordering his death cert yet - have all his census/marriage/children etc - it's just the occupation on the 1901 was puzzling me since, as I mentioned, he was a Tinplate Worker Journeyman. Will have to check with his branch of the family to see if anyone knows if he changed his occupation at any time. Many thanks |

...would anyone have a few mins spare to check the occupation of this chap please from the 1901 Census? JAMES R SANGER, AGE 39, (Parish: CAMBERWELL, LONDON) - RG13/513/97/33. I know this man was a tinplate worker journeyman all his life (according to certs and other census info), but the occupation listed here doesn't look like that to me - anyone able to make it out? Cheers! |
