Hi there, any one know a source of info on where i can look up shortened names? I keep coming across things and then having to go and ask my mum! Like is Peggy short for something? Is Mary often shortened to May... Thanks

Hi Helen If you google *shortened names * you get lots of sites with info. I know that Peggy is used for Margaret. Happy hunting :) Ann

Peggy is usually for Margaret. Mary isn't usually shortened and May would be a name in it's own right. Kath. x

Molly or Polly are 'shortened' pet names for Mary. Maggie, Meggie, Peggy, Peg and Daisy are some of the many pet-names for Margaret. (Daisy is a pun on the common name for an ox-eye daisy which was Margaret or Marguerite Mark
