I have just received my Hubby's Grandmother's wedding certificate. She was Elizabeth Hankin, born in 1881 in Hampshire. She married an Alfred John Hunt born in 1862 in 1911 and the certificate gives Alresford Hampshire as the place. Alfred's Father is also given as Alfred John and both of them are down as plasterers. I can't find any Alfred Johns from Hampshire who are both plasterers so I assume he was not originally from there. Is it just a case of looking for every AJ born at the right time and checking his and his Father's employment, or is there an easier way? Sue

Thanks everyone, I can't believe the speed of this board :-) We know that he was married before, but that's all I'm afraid. No birth information at all. The witnesses were the Landlord and Landlady of The Globe Inn at Alresford where 'Lizzie' appears with them in 1901 as a servant, they later took the pub over apparently.

Those census entries look very promising don't they? I'll have to make some enquiries amongst the oldest relatives down in Hampshire to see if they can remember anything. Surely they would remember that many children.......if he told them?
