If you find a marriage on Ancestry is there an easier way to find the partner? Or do you have to trawl through the whole quarter until you match the reference number?

If you click on view record, and then click 'see others on page' that should do it for you... unless the page number has been mistranscribed...

It's easier to find marriage partners on FREE BMD if they married before 1911ish http://freebmd.rootsweb(.)com/cgi/search.pl (remove brackets) Cheers, Horatia

Do you mean there is an uneven number of brides and grooms?

What are their names and what year is the marriage?

Thanks everyone....not every one is on BMD....it is really those that I am asking about. Heather, I have a number of marriages for one surname and I am trying to match them up with their respective partners.

Try posting one or two and people may be able to help you. Cheers, Horatia

Sue if these marriages are in the 1866-1920 period then it may be worth you paying out for some credits on familyrelatives.org. In that period you can enter a name search and area and date span and you can click to get a name match.

Old-stagers Just remind us, at what year does the partner's surname appear in the full marriage index? O joy, o rapture when it pops up to confirm what you've been told (or boohoo when it turns out to be a different surname entirely). And just for reference, mother's maiden name in the births index.
