Sorry i have a couple of questions about births. I know i am a little bit ahead of myself but i was wondering whilst i am waiting for some certificates and and to save more money i have been looking back at what could be my ancesters if my researching has been correct. The question is they were born in 1799/1761 etc did they used to have birth certificates? If they did have birth certificates where would you find the reference as ancestry by what i can see goes back to 1837. Thanks very much Jen |

Hi, Births, marriage and death certificates did not start until July 1837. before that you have to look at baptisms, burials and PR marriages to see what you can find out. the IGI is good but by no means complete, tom |
