I did pick up on Marta being Martin. The best suggestion i can make would be to sort a list of certs, seeing as this is your direct line, try and get the main ones. Birth and marriage certs for your g/father,g g/father. At least then you should hope to have names of parents, and the marriage certs might have something useful/suprising on the witness front. For the cost of maybe three certs you should then hopefully not end up chasing the wrong families through the census. Glen

I'm struggling with this one. I have tried to chase the Lyon family back with the names of the other children, but keep finding single women with jobs quoted as hawker and boarders in addresses in Warrington. Going to have to give up for tonight Glen

There isn't necessarily a McGrath/Lyons marriage - Mary could have had a sister who married a Mr. Lyons, in which case Mary's surname wouldn't be Lyons.

hi glen yes i found patrick mcgrath (who is named as head in 1891) on the 1861 census living as son to the head which is his mother margaret mcgrath. i also found from the 1891 census you found for me that elizabeth-his daughter became yates and mary his daughter became volan. this info was from 1901 census where patrick is head but no wife mary is there as she was in 1891. also found patrick and his wife on 1851 census living with gelling family? trying to still find the link between william as nephew and the rest! can let you have access to my tree if that helps? you may see a connection ive missed? thanx carolexx

Hi Carole Blame me,i'm the one that found the image.LOL It was the closest possible match, let's hope it is definately your man. Did you manage to find the Lyons family any further back than 1871? Have you found the McGrath family in the previous census returns. Just as a thought, the marriage might have been in Ireland. Glen
