Looks like Nell Lane to me. You could email or phone the library in Withington and ask them to let you know whether there was a Nell Lane on their Electoral Roll for the year before the war (no electoral roll taken during the war.) UPDATE - I've just Googled 'Nell Lane Withington' and there is one there. Kath. x

Zoe, It's Mitral and not Nitral on the cause of death. Mitral stenosis is a narrowing of the mitral valve in the heart. See update above. Kath. x

According to Google there is a community hospital there are the moment. Perhaps it has been there a while? Or maybe she was staying with relatives because she was ill. Kath. x

fromm googling, it seems that 20 nell lane, was a hospital that was later renamed withington hospital. quite eerie as my mum was told that her mother died in 1937 giving birth to her!!!! turns out she didnt die until 1940. also until i started this research, mum didnt even know who her mother was, not even a name!!! and to top it all i was born in withington hospital! carolexx
