Could any of you wonderful people find an Ann Booth mother b. 1816 Torrington, Pendleton Lancs and an Alice Booth daughter b 1843 Charlestown, Pendleton in living Lancashire on the 1851 census? If you could find the street address too I'd be really grateful. By the way, just a little note in reply to the posting on David Hodge's thread. I live in Chile, South American and getting Certificates sent out here is horribly expensive. I could not have been able to find 90% of my tree if it hadn't been for the help I've had from the friendly people on this site. I'm moving back to Britain next year and will then have a chance to double check all the details but in the meantime, I do rely very much on your support. Thanks Ashley

Christina thanks. This is the information I’ve got from the later Census. She seems to get older as she gets older if you know what I mean. Perhaps on the 1851 C she is shown as born in 1841. None of the places on your list match up or are even very close. Curiouser and curiouser. The only Alice Booth in Pendleton in 1851 is this one, but the family are wrong. Christina Could you take a look at the 1861 census. It shows Ann as a lodger and Alice as a daughter, who else is in the house and what's the address? thanks Ashley

No luck but I have just noticed the following - which may explain why they can't be found. At the bottom of the 1851 search page it says: In addition, the census returns of the following localities have been damaged by water during storage. Most of the damaged pieces are in the area of Manchester and among the places listed is: 2222/1 Lancashire Eccles Pendleton Typical, eh! Sorry, Christina

Christina It's a real outside chance but do you think Ann Booth would appear on the 1841 census? She would have been 25 years old and if Alice wasn't her first child she might have already been married. Thanks a bunch Ashley

There are 51 Ann Booths born in Lancashire around the time of your Ann and living in Lancashire in 1841. Ages were rounded down to the nearest 5, so it is difficult to tell which might be her. I have to disappear for a while now but I'll try to have a look at them all later. Christina

I think I have found her in 1841 in Pendleton, civil parish of Eccles. HO107/543/6 Folio 37 p 21. Address Union Street, but no house number is given. Bear in mind that the aes of those aged 15 and over was rounded down to the nearest 5.
