That's kind Janice, thank you. I have just found 2 other members who have a Noah George Smith born in the same year at Graffham in their tree. I've sent them messages, we'll see if they're still members. I don't know why his names should be the other way around on the marriage certificate though, one of life's mysteries. |

Nothing under Noah in '51, wonder if he was George back then? |

That explains the children being born in so many diverse places then. Makes a change from all my labourers......bless 'em. |

Possibly Janice, thanks for your help. I hadn't seen the 1891 census and the address is a lot clearer on that. It's the same street as the marriage certificate Yaaaaay...... Zoe, you're a star, thank you for that, it looks like the census finds are my ancestors so that will most certainly be useful. |

Was trying to see if perhaps George Noah's father wasa also a George hence him being called by his second name found this in 1861 - which disproves my theory but may help you later: Low Graffham, HUNTS Harry Smith abt 1850 Graffham, Huntingdonshire, England Son Noah Smith abt 1847 Graffham, Huntingdonshire, England Son Sally Smith abt 1815 N Wife William Smith abt 1794 Perry Gt Stanghor, Huntingdonshire, England Head |

Maybe he was named George after his dad but they didn't want 2 Georges so he grew up being a Noah. |

I can certainly do that, I suppose that would confirm her Mother's name which would hopefully tie in with this family. Wonder why he changed from Noah to George Noah? . Isn't it exciting when you find a possible lead? |

Same family are in Hougham in 1891 too. Looks good. Can you get bride's birth cert to confirm both parents' names? Janice |

I received the marriage certificate of my Grandparents this morning and found that they were married at Hougham Nr Dover. Her Father is given as George Noah Smith (Labourer). The wedding was in October 1908 when she was 25 and one of the witnesses was Sarah Smith, do you think this looks promising?
