Good evening everyone. I'm going to the Bancroft Road Library in Stepney tomorrow morning to check out some records I pray are there..... Only place I have done some hands on research is at the FRC in Islington, and that was pretty straight forward. I have made a plan (Captain Manwaring)...... I have checked by email with the library that they allow photo images of the records, and that is fine. I have set up a template to also record what I find (everything is crossed at this end!!). Advice on what else I should arm myself with......... The one who calls himself Mr is taking me and so I want to be as prepared as I can (looking like I know what I'm doing would help!!) Bring it on - I need your 'condensed' experience. Cheers, Jeanne |

I've been to Bancroft Library (if I'm thinking of the right one) and they have a very good name index for their documents BUT - when I found a hit I asked to see the documents and the guy returned with completely the wrong thing. He then told me what I wanted didn't exist. I persevered and eventually the older guy there went off down a set of stairs and came backup producing the most marvellous set of copies from a court case with two of my rellies in dispute over some inherited property. It was golddust. erm - so my tip is - don't believe anyone who tells you anything unless he wears a bobbled old cardie and looks like Merlin without the beard Z xx p.s. have fun |
