Why is it when you have found something really interesting and you get called away from the computer you write the reference down and then when you get back to the computer you type the reference in and it's the wrong thing you have written down. Then when you find the people you are looking for again after an hour of searching what you have written down seems to be wrong. Grrrrrrr i really want to scream. Sorry needed to vent that off of my chest and see if i am the only person that makes this kind of mistake. Jen

Hi Jenny Until I got even intermediate at this reasearch stuff, I entered stuff down on my laptop and totally lost the plot. Oh Jesus, bit's of paper - you name it. I now keep it all in a journal and file. I enter all my data source, and above all I don't put anyone in my tree that I am not absolutely sure (as sure as I can be) that fit. I only have 500 people in my tree, but am researching another 50. The people on this board have helped me no end........... Jeanne

Ok so i am now getting confused i am on the family search website and i seem to have found the Emma Whitehead i am searching for i know her mother is called Rebecca and her father is called George Whitehead. But i am coming up with a couple of differences as i have found 2 Emmas born with the same parents. Can you give me your opinions please I have William Whitehead born 1794 other page 1827 Emma Whitehead 1829 other page 1819 Thomas Whitehead 1759 other page 1784 Mary Bell both pages have 1761 Robert Bell both pages have 1735 There are a few different people on each one but am confused as to which one is likely to be right so i know which one i need to do BMD searches for to double check everything and then order certd when needed. Could possibly they both be sort of right but need adding together? Thanks sorry if i have caused any confusion. Jen

Jennifer I suspect you are looking at submitted records? OC

Jen - Is the same parish listed for these people in both cases? You would be best advised to look at a copy of the original parish registers (either at the local records office or LDS Family History Centre) to verify the information in any case. There aren't any BMDs prior to 1837 and even if they died after that, the ages at death are based on the informant's knowledge, which isn't always correct. HTH - Tim

Jennifer Read my thread for Newbies and the IGI! I posted it today because I have noticed a lot of people recently getting caught in the IGI trap. Will nudge it up for you. OC
