Is there a free BMD for Scotland apart from LDS??

I have tried free BMD but it doesn't have any scottish areas in it, is there a Scottish free BMD seach please. Betty. |

Hi Eileen, Yes I know about Scotlandspeople and have been using it as all my rellies are from Scotland. It just costs so much, yes 30 credits for £6 but if you are search over 100's of people I have spent a fortune on that website with census and BMD searches, just trying to find something free. Betty, There is a lady, Sue Lund, who runs a site for exchanging info from Scottish BMD certs that you could try http://www.sctbdm(.)com/ The more people who use the better it will be. So far haven't found any of mine on there but you never know! Barbara |

Betty, unfortunately the Scottish GRO have not given anybody else permission to provide the BMD listings, so you have to go via Scotland's People or go to the Scottish GRO to look it up. On the plus side, when you do find an entry on Scotland's People you can download the certificate immediately and cheaply! Kate. |

Hi Kate, Yes I have downloaded births marriages and death information from Scotlands People, its just the Scottish blood in me that is trying to find something free or cheaper at least. I have spend hundreds on pounds in one year on Scotlands People. many of my family had 10-12 children and they in turn each had 10-12 children all adds up to a lot of BMD and census lookups. Betty |
